I built the Tailgate Nobody Invited Us To

Let me tell y'all why this tailgate exists. I have been an avid sports fanatic my entire life. NFL Sundays with my dad, NASCAR race days where the whole house smelled of cheap booze and somebody's always yelling at the TV. But nothing, and I do mean nothing, is more amazing in this world than a Saturday in the SEC! That's 100,000 fans literally screaming their actual heads off with absolute full-blown rage for the other team. Tailgating starts before 7 a.m. (if an SEC team is playing another SEC team, tailgating starts Friday night y'all), while someone's Memaw in full team gear is losing her ever-livin' mind over a third-down conversion. Y'all, the SEC don't do casual. And neither do their fans - and the ladies in those stands know how to show up and show out.

I've tailgated in parking lots, watched games that were so popular you were willing to share a stool at the local bar, debated draft picks with people who had no damn idea what the hell they were talking about - but we had the time of our lives.

I never felt like the sports world was actually rooting for women. Not because we didn't belong; we did and still do. We weren't invited to the conversation until 30 years ago, the year that the WNBA was created. And yet, it still feels like we look out from the sidelines, just wanting to be a part of the game and excitement. Well, ladies, that changes today.

Who She Runs the Field is for?

If you are a woman who has ever had to explain yourself for caring about football, or justify why you watch the WNBA, or smile politely while some man explains a penalty you absolutely have no idea what the hell he is saying, and nodded along like "shut the hell up," and you didn't even ask him for any explanation.

She Runs the Field is a women's sports lifestyle brand built for women who love sports on their terms, not some dude at the bar mansplaining or getting a pink jersey you could shove up someone's ass for it. AND no more asking permission to be at the tailgate, this is OUR tailgate, ladies.

Just real talk, ladies' style, southern roots running deep, and every sport worth watching.

The Numbers Say We've Always Been Here

Here is something the sports world is just now catching up to: female sports fans are not a trend, ladies. We have always been on the field!

The NFL audience is 44% female, y'all. Nearly half of MLB fans are women. The 2026 WNBA Draft averaged 1.5 million viewers on ESPN, up 20% from 2025's 1.25 million, behind only 2024's Caitlin Clark Draft at 2.45 million. Ladies, we are NOT a trend. We ARE the audience and the players.

We have been relying on men to build our spaces. Well, no more, ladies, and especially my ladies over 40 (shoot, I'm 55, y'all). We are women with sensibilities and a multi-sport appetite that doesn't fit neatly in a male-dominated sports world.

She Runs the Field is that space.

What is Cover Here

Football weekends start in the parking lot tailgating before sunrise and outfits that actually show up. Race day drama means cold drinks and loud engines. Hoops, baseball, and golf mean you don't just watch - you host, style it, and make a whole day out of it.

End Zone

By the time SEC Saturdays roll around, you won't be sitting on that bar stool lost—and it ain't luck, ladies. It's because you showed up here and paid attention instead of hoping it would just click. That's what I'm doing on She Runs the Field—calling out what matters, when it matters, so you're not trying to piece it together on the fly. If it's on and making things happen, we're talking about it... on our terms.

Go on and follow the podcast. Bookmark the site. Come back, because when the season hits, you'll get it or you're gonna wish you did.

And I'll catch y'all at the next tailgate.
